Pärnu Central Library
Finished in 2008, this modern library building is fully covered in clear glass, so that unity with the town can be felt through the facades. The brightly lit house is especially inviting on long dark winter nights. Good to know! The architects of this building were awarded the Estonian Cultural Capital Architecture Prize of the Year. Here you can use the Internet and see interesting exhibitions. The library stands on the site of the medieval Pärnu order castle. The walls of the castle have partly been marked on the pavement in front of the building. They had still been visible after World War II, but during the construction of the Stalinist central square, the walls were demolished.
