People measure time in these parts by the herring catch - which breathes new life into the village after a long and tiring winter.
The smoke rising from ovens, the boats puttering through the water and the calls of seabirds are inseparable parts of the landing of the catch. The festival that accompanies it showcases coastal fishing and local fish culture for fishermen, locals and visitors alike.
