Aleksandra ANISA Ianchenko “SWAMP STORY”

22.04.26 - 07.05.26
On Wednesday, April 22 at 5 PM, the exhibition by Aleksandra ANISA Ianchenko titled “SWAMP STORY” will open at Pärnu Artists’ House Project Space. You are welcome to attend!
The exhibition explores the experience of falling in love, which encompasses various emotional states: loneliness and anticipation, a first encounter and erotic tension, desire and passion, the difficulties of both being together and apart.
These states are expressed through a fictional story about creatures living in a swamp. Thanks to the stems and buds growing from their backs, the creatures are able to communicate and breathe underwater. In moments of intense emotion, the buds bloom into large, lotus-like flowers. The plot of the Swamp Story is based on the artist's own experiences, and the visual language combines the landscapes of Estonian wetlands and the lush vegetation of southern countries.
The Swamp Story, told through paintings and comics, was first shown in Helsinki in late 2025. With the addition of the central triptych, it is being shown for the first time in Estonia.

These worlds could take different forms, from paintings and drawings, to performative interventions and filmmaking.
