RMK Suitsu hiking trail and viewing tower
Suitsu hiking trail is a 1.3 km long trail that is located in Matsalu forest and runs parallel to the flooded meadow of Suitsu River. The trail passes through an alder marsh and a wooded meadow-like plain and leads to a meadow. On your journey, you will see reeds, forests, flooded meadows, and old fishermens' huts. It is most interesting to go hiking either in early spring, early morning, or late in the evening as the animals and birds are most active at these times. You might see roe deer, elk, and wild boar, and hear the Eurasian eagle-owl, Eurasian woodcock, and Eurasian bittern. The trail leads to a restored hay barn or Smoke forest hut, where you can also spend the night. There are many mosquitoes here!
