Transport Options for the Tõstamaa Route

You can travel to the Tõstamaa area by car, public transport, bicycle, boat, campervan, or even by hiking. To get to Manija island, you need to cross a short sea route from Munalaiu harbor, or take a boat directly to Manilaiu harbor. Google Maps and Waze will help you find local points of interest. To plan and book your experiences in the area, you can use the route planner on the Touringery portal by selecting the “Discover Tõstamaa” (Avasta Tõstamaa) map.

By Car

From Pärnu, we recommend driving along the Audru-Pootsi-Tõstamaa coastal road, which takes you through beautiful small coastal villages. However, the shortest route from Pärnu to Tõstamaa is via Kihlepa. If you are coming from Saaremaa or Lihula, turn off the Risti-Virtsu road towards Karuse, then continue towards Vatla-Varbla-Kulli, which will bring you to Kastna village. The Tõstamaa sub-district begins at Kastna village.

In addition to your own vehicle, you can use a taxi or a rental car. Various taxi companies in Pärnu can easily be found online, and Bolt is also available. Information about rental car options can be found on the service providers’ websites: Rendiautorent and Laverte Autorent.

By Public Transport

Buses run to Tõstamaa from both Pärnu and Lihula. There is also a connection via the Koti intersection (Koti risti), which helps travelers coming to Tõstamaa from Saaremaa and Virtsu. You can check bus timetables on Peatus.ee or via the T-pilet app, where you can also buy some tickets in advance. You can always buy bus tickets directly from the driver as well.

If you are coming to Maria Farm (Maria talu) by bus, get off at the Maria stop.

If you are coming to Aeglane Hetk, choose the Ranniku stop. From there, the sign for the Kastna oaks (Kastna tammed) will guide your way, and you will need to walk a little over one kilometer along a quiet village road.

By Bicycle

Tõstamaa is an excellent destination to visit by bicycle. Short distances, proximity to the coast, and varied nature make a bike trip highly enjoyable. If needed, you can get information, maps, and brochures introducing the region from the Tõstamaa Manor information point.

The Western Estonia bicycle routes and EuroVelo routes can help you plan your journey.

By Boat

For those arriving by boat, there are several harbor options in the area. Depending on the size and draft of your vessel, you can choose between: Munalaiu harbor (Munalaiu sadam), Värati harbor (Värati sadam), Manilaiu harbor (Manilaiu sadam), Võidu harbor (Võidu sadam), Peerni harbor (Peerni sadam), Kastna small harbor (Kastna väikesadam), Merelaiu small harbor (Merelaiu väikesadam)

By Campervan

For travelers with campervans, full services are offered by Ermistu Holiday Village (Ermistu puhkeküla) and Tõhela Lake Holiday Village (Tõhela järve puhkeküla).

Connection to Manilaiu Island

You can travel to Manija island year-round from Munalaiu harbor. The island is located about 800 meters from the mainland, and the crossing takes approximately 10 minutes. The small commuter boat Mann serves passengers daily, while the ferry Kihnu Virve runs less frequently.

Sailing information and schedules can be found via the links for the Line boat Mann (Liinipaat Mann) and Kihnu Virve.
