23.07.2025 Yisan (South-Korea) Workshop : Disappearing Practice
- Material : Wide fabric, Plastic bag, - time : 2hour
The practice of disappearing is a study of death.
Death is the cessation of movement.
Death can be said to be disappearance from a group or society.
This death corresponds to another life, not mine.
‘my death’ is impossible. Because it is something that I, the subject, cannot confirm or experience...
Death is established only by the other.
Here, the other includes people, non-existent, and immaterial things.
This workshop is based on my performance work ‘N’th Portrait’.
1 stage : Each participant is given a tool to cover their face.
2 stage : Cut or tear it into the shape of a bandage and wrap it around each person's face. This behavior appears in the process of burying the dead. In Korea, it is expressed as 'yeomhanda'.
3 stage : If you cover your face tightly, you will stop doing anything you do. You will let out the words that are coming out of you.
