Estonian Pianosummer is a new piano festival in Pärnu, Narva and Jõhvi, which brings together an exciting group of piano enthusiasts and professionals.
At the festival, top pianists from Europe will perform solo concerts, and young rising stars will be presented accompanied by the Narva City Symphony Orchestra.
The opening concert of the festival will be given by the winner of the Van Cliburn competition, Ukrainan pianist Vadym Kholodenko, who has burst on the international scene as one of the most musically dynamic and technically gifted young pianists.
Born in Kiev, he gave his first solo concerts at the age of 13 in the USA, China, Hungary, Croatia. To date, Kholodenko has become a sought-after soloist, whose busy schedule often takes him to the most renowned halls in Europe and America and in front of the best orchestras: for instance, he recently performed concerts in the Vienna Konzerthaus, Wigmore Hall, St. Lukes Church in London, Radio France, etc.
His London debut with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra immediately led to another invitation and he has performed in front of many other prestigious orchestras, including the BBC Scottish Symphonic Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestras of Indianapolis and Philadelphia. Kholodenko’s recordings are highly appreciated: thus, his recent solo album released in collaboration with Harmonia Mundi won the prestigious annual Diapason d’Or award.
