Mälestuskivi tähistab Legendaarse „metskapteni“ Kihnu Jõnni kodukohta. Kihnu Jõnn, kodanikunimegaEnn Uuetoa (1848-1913), oli tuntud eesti laevakapten, kes juhtis maailmameredel suuri laevu ilma kompassi ja sekstandita ja sõitis enamasti laevadel millega teised kaptenid ei julgenud merele minna. Kuulus kapten hukkus tormisel sügispäeval koos oma viimase laeva “Rock City’ga” Taani rannikul 1913. aastal. Hiljem toodi Kihnu Jõnni säilmed kodusaarele ja on maetud Kihnu kalmistule.
Kihnu Jõnnu pronksist paarimeetrine kuju valvab Pärnu mereväravat mandril Pärnu jahtklubi juures.
