XI National Koidula Poetry Competition for Adults

The aim of the competition is to activate adults' interest in poetry and recitation. It also seeks to develop the art of poetry presentation and provide a motivating outlet for showcasing one’s skills through a traditional recitation competition, where the best performers from each regional preliminary round are sent to the finals in Pärnu.

Participants in the competition should preferably be at least high school age, and the duration of the performance should not exceed 7 minutes. 

Two poems are to be presented, one of which must be by Lydia Koidula, and the other can be the work of any other Estonian author chosen by the presenter. 

The organizers of the competition are Koidula Museum and the Association of Estonian Writers' Museums and its patron is the poet Doris Kareva.

The national final of the adult Koidula poetry competition takes place on March 15 at 12:00 at the Koidula Museum in Pärnu. In the finals, performances will be judged by Maria Lee Liivak, Kaupo Meiel and Karl Martin Sinijärv. The winner will receive a replica of a pastel portrait of Lydia Koidula (author Vello Paluoja), and special prizes will be awarded to other participants.
