VALEM VALE
The band Valem Vale from Põlva can trace its beginnings back to the year 1988. That year, in the music room of J. Käis Põlva Secondary School, guitarist Meelis Hainsoo from the 9th grade and Peeter Änilane from the 7th grade started playing together. In the spring of 1989, Mihkel Gutjuma from Räpina joined the band, as his sister Mariana was looking for a band for her drumming enthusiast brother, followed by bassist Toomas Rebane, who was Meelis Hainsoo's classmate. The band also acknowledges dr. Vambola Kisand as a member, who wrote lyrics for many songs and invented various technical gadgets. From the start, the band had a firm plan to play only original music. All the young men were inspired by the popular heavy metal of the time. In Valem Vale’s music, you can hear influences from bands like Judas Priest, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Helloween, and others. The band's name was given by Meelis Hainsoo, who, while at a violinist camp, rummaged through the drawer of a proper math teacher and found a bag full of stamps, which the teacher probably used for correcting students' work, among them the stamp "valem vale" (“formula wrong”). Valem Vale was active until 1991. They performed at several youth band competitions, county cultural centers, and of course at their own school. A cassette was recorded in the radio room of Põlva Secondary School (Põlva ÜG), which fortunately preserved most of the band’s work. Valem Vale continues to perform in its original lineup, sometimes more frequently, sometimes less, to this day.
At the concert, you can also listen to new creations from the Valem Vale LP “Ascend from Sleep,” which is a conceptual album with music by Meelis "Hainz" Hainsoo and texts by Lydia Koidula. The material of the album was originally featured in the 2024 summer performance at Lutsu Theater.

MAI SKIZO is an original and unique blend of grunge, industrial, metal, and darkwave. It can also be classified as gothic rock, but it would be more accurate to say that MAI SKIZO is MAI SKIZO.
