The Pärnu Museum branch located in Pärnu's oldest surviving building introduces the history of the Pärnu region, particularly the medieval New Pärnu town, of which only the tower itself remains in today's cityscape.

The history of this venerable building is colorful: built six hundred years ago as a prison and defense tower, over the past hundred years it has been used both as a warehouse and a city archive. Locals also remember it as the location of several cultural institutions. The Red Tower was only recently fully utilized.

The permanent exhibition of the Red Tower is spread across its three preserved floors.

On the reception floor, a museum guide introduces the Red Tower as it might have looked in the 15th century, immediately after its completion.

Then, in the round panorama cinema located in the tower's attic, visitors can watch an exciting 10-minute animated film that tells the history of the region from the last ice age.

In the courtyard and on the second floor of the tower, one can find a model of the medieval New Pärnu town and the exhibition "Church, Tavern, and Cabbage Garden," which introduces the everyday life of a medieval New Pärnu town resident.
