For the first time in Estonia, the Pärnu Smelt Festival is taking place this year!

The goal of the Pärnu Smelt Festival is to develop a sustainable fishing area, connect different community stakeholders, and showcase the good flavors of Estonia.
 

Why does the smelt deserve a festival of its own, and why in Pärnu?
This small fish with a silvery body is most abundant in the spring in the waters of Pärnu, and with its unique fresh cucumber scent, it is legendary among fishermen and gourmets alike!
