Pärnu City Orchestra's 31st season will be creatively powerful and offer exciting experiences and surprises for all music enthusiasts!

MASTERPIECES OF CLASSICAL MUSIC, RHYTHMS, AND NEW MUSICAL DISCOVERIES.
Excitement is found in every concert.

According to principal conductor Henri Christofer Aavik, the Pärnu City Orchestra is approaching the upcoming season with the principle of "something memorable for everyone." "Lovers of timeless classics, jazz and pop enthusiasts, vocal music aficionados, or those who rarely visit concert halls — all are welcome to share in the joy of live music with us."

The season will offer Pärnu audiences a series of exciting and diverse concerts.

Following the opening concert on October 18, there will be a jazz-pianist Kristjan Randalu's author's concert, which will be held in collaboration with the Estonian Jazz Union, celebrating its 20th anniversary, on November 21.

On the second advent, you can enjoy a beautiful concert evening with timeless Mozart's works and solemn holiday music. Soloists Maria Listra (soprano) and Raiko Raalik (bass) will perform under the baton of conductor Henri Christofer Aavik.

On January 11, 2025, a concert titled "SONG CELEBRATION" will mark the 60th jubilee of beloved composer, pianist, and music educator Piret Rips-Laul. Popular songs by the beloved songwriter will be performed by Hanna-Liina Võsa, Tõnis Sarap, Arete Kerge, Hans Christian Aavik and many other soloists, along with choirs from Pärnu and Tallinn. The jubilee evening will feature numerous musical ensembles: four choirs and a symphony orchestra, conducted by six conductors throughout the evening. The jubilee concert will also premiere a piece specially composed for this event for violin and orchestra.

The concert-performance “My First Concert” on January 25 is aimed at the youngest audience. The concert is directed by Ingrid Jasmin and will be produced in collaboration with the Laine Mägi Dance School and Margrit Kitse's Singing Studio, conducted by the orchestra's first guest conductor Mikk Murdvee. Orchestral arrangements by Riivo Jõgi.

On Valentine's Day, February 14, the first concert of the interactive concert series "The Art of Listening" titled "Reigo Ahven & Rhythms" will take place. Beloved musician, educator, and entertainer Reigo Ahven will introduce various rhythms, how our body perceives them, and whether music can exist without rhythm. This concert targets students from primary and high school, but the general public is also warmly welcomed. The educational and exciting series will continue for three seasons.

After several years, the popular "Request Concert" will return. This is an engaging concert format where the audience can choose the pieces to be performed, ensuring an always joyful and spontaneous atmosphere. The orchestra awaits suggestions for featured songs by December 13 to shape the program for the March 15 concert together. The concert's artistic director is Vaasa City Orchestra's concertmaster Maano Männi.

The "Masterpieces" series concert "Murdvee & Beethoven's Seventh" on April 24 will present one of classical music's most beloved works — Beethoven's 7th Symphony. Mikk Murdvee aims to perform all 9 symphonies of the great master with the Pärnu City Orchestra.

The program also includes Mozart's flute concerto KV 314 in D major. The promising young flutist Minna Emilia Vürst, who recently won first place in the Tampere Flute Fest's young performer category, will perform as a soloist.

The season concludes on May 13 with a "Masterpieces" concert featuring "Hans Christian Aavik & Sibelius".
The concert opens with the premiere of a new piece specially composed for the season finale by Madli Marje Gildemann. The evening's most anticipated moment is Hans Christian Aavik's performance of Sibelius's violin concerto. The world-renowned record label Deutsche Grammophon has included Aavik in its "Rising Stars" program, and the first edition has already been released. The concert will also pay tribute to the top Estonian symphonist Eduard Tubin on his 120th birthday by presenting the composer's 7th Symphony.
