On Wednesday, February 12th at 18:00, the writer Kristiina Ehin will be visiting the Koidula Museum to present her second novel "Behind the Heart Oaks," published in late 2024.

The novel is an autobiographical tragicomedy about the ghostly roles in a woman's life, acknowledging which requires a long journey. The novel centers around the attraction and clash between two creative individuals amidst the grandeur of celebrations and the madness of everyday life.

Kristiina herself has described the book's main theme as how to love each other with all virtues and flaws. The conversation delves into the endless roles of women and how easy it seems to be a man. This tragicomic novel is partly autobiographical and partly driven by vivid imagination.

Among the many colorful male characters, the book features writers Contra, Meelis Friedenthal, Ludwig Sander, Mika Keranen, and Justin Petrone. At the forefront is the relationship with her husband Silver, who collects things, loves creative chaos, and constantly builds new instruments.

Kristiina Ehin (born 1977) is an Estonian poet, prose writer, and singer. She has been part of the ensemble Naised Köögis since 2012. She graduated from the University of Tartu with a degree in Estonian philology, specializing in folklore. In 2004, she obtained a master's degree in Estonian and comparative folklore from the university. She has also worked as a teacher and as a professor of liberal arts at the University of Tartu, and has been the city writer of Tartu.
