The Koidula Museum continues the literary meetings of the Year of the Estonian Book! On Wednesday, May 14 at 6 PM, ILMAR TRULL will be visiting.
Ilmar Trull was born on February 21, 1957, in Tallinn. He graduated from Tallinn's 7th High School and studied English at the University of Tartu. After military service, Trull worked in various professions, and from 1985 to 1995, he was the departmental and executive editor of the humor magazine Pikker.
Ilmar Trull has been a long-time contributor to children's magazines Täheke and Hea Laps. Since 1996, he has been supplying the children's page of the weekly newspaper Eesti Ekspress with witty poems and also illustrates them himself. From the best of the poems published in the press, he has produced 17 collections every year or two, which are always guaranteed to be popular among readers.
Trull has received several awards for his work, including the Karl Eduard Sööt Award for children's poetry six times and several recognitions from the Estonian Cultural Endowment. His poetry, with its memorable characters (angry titmouse, sick woodpecker, space dog, etc.), colorful imagery, solid and thoughtful rhythm, humor, and intertextuality, appeals to different age groups.
