Exhibition "Hunt for Women's Names"
Times and prices
07.03.25 - 14.04.25
Have you noticed that the packaging of many products features a female name? Whether it's Vilma cake mix, Olivia oil, Marta cookies, or Tiina candies.
The Seljametsa Museum showcases 40 products with different female names. In addition, there are 24 different Anneke and 9 different Aljonka chocolate wrappers from Maiu Saar's private collection on display.
The chocolate manufacturer Kalev claims that Anneke dates back to 1945. Anneke has been a pet's friend, participated in song and dance festivals, dreamed of becoming a princess, and enjoyed the charms of rural life. Both Russia and Ukraine have their own Annekes, Aljonkas, or Annushkas. Each picture depicts a beautiful, blonde-headed girl. Aljonka chocolate was created in Moscow in 1965. According to legend, Aljonka was named after the daughter of the first female cosmonaut, Valentina Tereshkova, as Aljona is her nickname.
Visiting the exhibition provides more information about the statistics and stories behind the names.
