“The people of Kihnu are tall and slim, almost all fair-skinned, with a unique silver-blue complexion and kind eyes. Their character is bold and cheerful, open and talkative, with a particular skill for making sharp and daring jokes, often even coarse and daring.”

This observation was recorded by Estonian linguist and dialect researcher Albert Saaberk (known in Estonian as Andrus Saareste) a little over a hundred years ago.

In the guided tour "The Other Estonian," we explore what was thought about folk costumes, wearing them, and generally about the people of Pärnumaa parishes 125 years ago.
