30.01.25
On January 30th, on the anniversary of A. H. Tammsaare's birth, the Estonian literature day is celebrated for the third time. This year, the Estonian Book Year 2025 also begins on Estonian Literature Day - marking 500 years since the publication of the first Estonian book (1525).
On Thursday, January 30th at 5:00 PM, everyone is welcome to the large hall of Pärnu Central Library for the Estonian literature day concert "Song and Poetry".
"Song and Poetry" is a solo concert by Hedvig Hanson, where the singer performs contemplative songs and selected poems, valuing the Estonian language and literature through fine-tuned music. Mainly original songs set to texts by Estonian writers-poets (Enno, Haava, Alliksaar, Kolla, Arder, Runnel, Ilmet, Õnnepalu, Kareva, etc.) will be presented.
With the Estonian literature day, we aim to value the core texts of literature and draw attention to contemporary literature and the role of writers in Estonian culture and society. The tradition started in 2023, and since then, January 30th has been marked in the national calendar as Estonian literature day and flag day.
The concert is free, you are welcome!
