On Sunday, April 27, at 11:00 AM, a children's morning will take place at Port Artur center's Rahva Raamat, where we invite all children along with their parents!
During the children’s morning, we will read and explore the children's book “A Little Big” by Kairi Look together with poet and storyteller Jaak Känd. We will then fold and draw a tiger. Additionally, we will raffle a book and enjoy some treats.
It's the little tiger's birthday. Many tigers, both big and small, come to the party, and a lot of cake is eaten. After the party, when the guests have left, the little tiger feels sad. He thinks about growing up. It sounds nice, but also somewhat scary. Could it be possible to be just a little big? And what does the tiger cub's mother think about being big or small?
The author of the text, Kairi Look, has previously written primarily for schoolchildren. Her Piia Prääniku series is particularly popular, with reprints of each book already released. The story of the tiger's birthday is her first book intended for young children.
The story is given character, a powerful, and suggestive form through illustrations by Anne Pikkov, who seems to have a long-standing special connection with tigers, as she explains her choice to become an artist, suggesting that “Perhaps it all started when I looked at clouds as a child and saw charging ships and roaring tigers in them.”
See you at Rahva Raamat!
