On April 2nd, the grand picture carpet embroidery project of the Year of the Estonian Book arrives at the Pärnu Central Library! You can add your embroidery stitches until April 22nd.
In honor of the 500th anniversary of the Estonian book, we are embroidering a nearly 17-meter-long picture carpet that tells the history of the Estonian book. The embroidery patterns are already printed on the fabric—making embroidery simple and the result uniform. The carpet is traveling across Estonia, and now there is an opportunity to contribute to it here in Pärnu county as well!
Come embroider at the Pärnu Central Library!:
- Everyone with the slightest desire and initiative is welcome!
- You can embroider during the library's opening hours Mon-Fri 10-19, Sat 10-15 (on April 18, Good Friday, the library is closed) in the gallery on the 1st floor

The finished picture carpet will find a place in the Estonian National Museum. The carpet will not only tell the book's story but also stands as a collective gesture of gratitude from all the people of Estonia to the 500-year-old Estonian book, which has carried our pursuit of enlightenment and freedom.
