76th Anniversary Commemoration Event of the March Deportation

On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 12:00, the victims of the mass deportation of 1949 will be commemorated at the Pärnu Memorial Park.

PROGRAM for the 76th Anniversary Commemoration Event:

Just before the start of the event, Memento members will light 76 candles at the base of the stone in memory of the deportees.

Next to the memorial stone, armed members of the Defense League and young cadets will stand guard with mourning flags from the Estonian Flag Society.

The memorial service will be read by the pastor of the Eliisabet Congregation. 

The day's host, Isabell Maripuu, will provide a historical overview of the events of 1949, connecting them with events in Ukraine. 

Students of Aita Kaaver, a teacher at the Pärnu School of Arts, will sing. 

There will be wreath laying and speeches. 

The event will close with timely performances by musicians from the Vana-Pärnu Cultural Society.
