The Red Tower is Pärnu’s oldest surviving structure. Built in the early 15th century, the corner tower of the city wall was both a fortification and a prison.
In this fascinating building you can now get acquainted with the architecture and history of this ancient tower and the medieval town called New-Pärnu.
In the Red Tower’s panorama cinema you can watch the 10-minute animated film which introduces Pärnu’s history. You will see how the surroundings of the city have changed and developed since the Ice Age, and find yourselves experiencing a series of symbolic and exciting historical events.
The ticket includes a panoramic cinema session and, if desired, a short introduction to the Red Tower by a museum employee.
You can also BUY YOUR TICKETS FROM PRE-SALE!
If your group is comprised of more than 10 people, please make a reservation.
It would also be helpful to order a guided tour to supplement your visit.
! Unfortunately, the architecture of our medieval tower significantly restricts accessibility. Before buying your ticket, please make sure that narrow and steep stairs and high thresholds will not create an obstacle for making a visit to the Red Tower.
The Tower’s courtyard gallery has exhibition stands with information about local history. The gallery is free to attend whenever the gates are open.
In the yard, you will also find an oversized modern copy of a Mill Game board, which you can also play for free. We kindly ask you to return the game pieces to the boxes after you have finished.
