Active holidays

If you’re seeking an active vacation, we have a variety of activities to offer: many hiking and recreational trails, surfing, disc golf, paintball, group activities, and other sports await!

70 kilometers of bike paths

Did you know that Pärnu has 70 kilometers of bike paths? This means that you can bike everywhere, which is why biking is very popular among the locals. Rent bikes for your whole family and explore Pärnu on wheels. Ride in the parks, old town or take the bike path along the beach to Pärnu Adventure Park where you can have fun on the attractions, then relax in the water park right next door!

Biking is also a good way to explore Kihnu Island, where you can find a designated (“Kihnu’s travel wheel”) route.

Activities in and on the water

Water sports have always been honored in Pärnu. Being both a river and a sea town, Pärnu offers various water activities:

  • cruises on the river and the bay
  • boat rides with an authentic fishing boat
  • joyrides on water bikes
  • water skiing
  • canoeing
  • surfing

Use the keyword “sports activities” in our search engine to find suitable water activities.

Sailing on Pärnu Bay, where you can see Pärnu from a completely different angle, is a unique activity. The more adventurous can enjoy sea kayaking. You can rent surfing equipment from Pärnu beach and get instructions for both beginners and more advanced surfers.

Did you know that Pärnu Bay is one of the best places to surf in the Nordic countries? The shallow water that deepens very gradually, sandy bottom, favorable winds and warm water create good conditions for surfing. Of course you can swim in the sea and the river throughout the year!

Recreational paths

Pärnu’s recreational paths run along our waterfronts, so you can enjoy beautiful views while working out. The most popular recreational path in Pärnu is the fully paved Jaanson’s Path, which forms a 10 km loop around the Pärnu River and offers lovely views of the river, parks and local neighborhoods. On the Jaanson’s Path you can practice many sports, including cycling, Nordic walking, running, skateboarding or rollerblading. The town’s second most popular path is located at Pärnu Beach. You will see many people running or Nordic walking on our beach promenade in the summer. The beach promenade is a boardwalk, therefore skateboarding and rollerblading is not possible.

Additionally, you can do short hikes on several hiking trails surrounded by the area’s beautiful nature.

Activities for groups

Pärnu has a lot in store if you are looking for a gripping activity to take part in with your coworkers or friends. One of our most mysterious places is Pärnu Prison, which now hosts several escape rooms.

In addition, you can take your group:

Out of town

Get an adrenaline rush at Valgeranna Adventure Park and Porsche Ring, which await the young and old alike. With Pärnu County’s experienced guides, you can snowshoe, canoe, kicksled or cross-country ski. Why not try out birdwatching or play disc golf on one of Pärnu County’s many courses?

Head to the sea on a fishing trip with a local fisherman or rent a rowboat and fishing rods by yourself. Golf lovers will find excellent golf courses right outside of Pärnu.
The Jõulumäe Recreational Sports Center offers trails, courses and facilities to practice sports from running to curling and skiing. In addition, you can try riding a dog sled and a horse sleigh in the winter season.
